Mixed Signal Devices Inc.

Mixed-Signal Devices Inc., headquartered in Irvine, California, develops high-performance digital timing, clock, and frequency solutions for advanced data, communications, automotive, and radar systems. The manufacturer replaces conventional analog clock architectures with a fully digital, CMOS-based platform designed for ultra-low phase jitter, high thermal stability, flexible programmability, and compact form factors.
At the heart of the platform is the patented Virtual Crystal™ technology. It combines digital frequency synthesis with BAW resonator technology and adaptive DSP algorithms. Variations in process, voltage, and temperature are continuously monitored and compensated for, ensuring stable and reliable clock generation even under demanding operating conditions. The products are manufactured using a scalable 28 nm CMOS process.
Depending on the product, features include programmable output frequencies of up to 2.2 GHz, phase jitter below 20 fs RMS, factory frequency resolution of less than 1 ppb, and extended temperature ranges from -40°C to +105°C. Supported output formats include CML, LVDS, LVDS-EXT, LVPECL, and HCSL.
The portfolio ranges from digitally synthesized oscillators, jitter attenuators, and clock generators to high-performance RF frequency synthesizers and programmable FMCW radar chirp generators. Mixed-Signal Devices therefore covers clock generation, distribution, and conditioning for highly precise timing signals, as well as signal generation for radar, communications, and test and measurement systems.
